Colorful, Relaxed, Summery
During the last breath of summer, Katie and Elijah wed at her parent’s home. This wasn’t just any backyard wedding, however! With a gorgeous sailcloth tent in the backyard and stunning floral installations in the front, it was transformed into their own private wedding venue.
Minnesota summer weddings can be a bit of a tossup for weather, but the wispy clouds acted as another wedding decoration for the couple. The sun shone through the windows as Katie got ready with her mom and sisters. After a quick shot and a little dancing, Katie was ready to go. Over the previous months, Elijah had been hard at work digging out a trail behind the house and in the woods for their first look. What a sweet gift!
The whole day was such a beautiful celebration of family and friends. They had a small wedding party of only siblings. The sisters bought their dresses just a week before the day! Everyone looked so effortlessly perfect, no one would ever be able to tell. The missmatched pink bridesmaid gowns added an upscale touch. Their friend officiated the wedding in such a perfect way. I was even able to capture their first kiss on film! Fear not, they got a perfectly clear shot too!
We caught the last few moments of sun for their beautiful golden hour portraits. As the golden light turned to a moody blue, the tent seemed more magical by the moment. The candles filled the space with light and as the dancing began, it was again hard to believe this space was just a backyard a week prior.
I second shot this wedding for Märit Williams Photography and it is always such a pleasure to support her! I have learned such good things from working with her and seeing her work so tirelessly for her couples.
