Family photos should embody who your family is now: giggles, loose teeth and silly grins included. Let me capture your best sides with timeless imagery that can hang on your walls for decades to come.
After you inquire, we talk about the our packages. Once you've booked, we will talk about the overall aesthetic you desire for your session. We'll walk through what time of day is best, how to pick the location for your session and answer any big questions you have in general. We'll chat through expectations and desires you have for your final gallery to ensure you get the best outcome possible.
Planning for everyone's outfits for a session can be incredibly stressful. I saw the burden on our clients' shoulders and started offering help in this area. After you have chosen your location and date, I will send around 10 mood boards with clickable links to each piece of clothing seen if you really love something. My clients use these both to shop and to start the wheels of inspiration turning.
Your shoot is here! After a quick hug and hello, we will start our session. As we've already talked through your desired posing and hoped candids, I guide you seamlessly through your session. Connection is our main focal point for these sessions. Toddler meltdowns, diaper blowouts and lost teeth are nothing new for me. I can get a smile out of the grumpiest kids and ultimately capture who your family is right now.
You will receive a gallery preview with a handful of images, typically around 10, within a week of your session. Families love to use these for everything from Christmas cards to birthday social media posts, to send out to family. You will receive your full gallery six to eight weeks from the shoot date.
You've received your images and you love them, now what? Instead of leaving them on a hard drive, print your memories and hang them in your home. Need a little reminder of your sweet family while you're at work? Print a few copies for desk frames. If you want a keepsake to pass onto future generations or a gift for grandparents, an album is the perfect choice for you.
The late summer, early fall colors in Minnesota are breath-taking! Karen wanted to capture her sweet family amongst the changing leaves, while still catching the last breath of summer. St. Paul's Como Park was the perfect backdrop for beautiful blooms and the start of Autumn colors. Would you believe me if I told you little Theo had a big toddler meltdown during his session? Take this as your sign to release your concerns that your kiddo will "ruin" your session. Even with lots of tears in between shots, the Corbett family ended up with a beautiful gallery of their family.
To celebrate their sweet girl, Carissa and Peter decided a studio would be the perfect spot for Makenna's first birthday. With our hand-painted backdrop behind them, we captured a fleeting moment in time for the Day family to have forever.
On a beautiful, late summer day, the Como Conservatory in St. Paul, Minnesota was the perfect backdrop for a sunny maternity session. Shane and Alexis opted for an all-film session. The combination natural and architectural elements of Como Park gave them a gallery with great variety. Bailey joined them two weeks later.
Susan and Paul chose to schedule Ray's newborn session just about a month after he joined their family. We love their choice of an in-home session, in their sunny St. Paul home. Both cats made appearances, rounding out the family photo portion of their gallery. The new parents wanted a variety of images to look back on, so we used several rooms. Little Ray was a delight the whole time.
Yes! There is something so special about photographing in the home where your kids will remember their childhood. I have a list of favorite studios you can pick from as well if you don't want to have a spotless house for photos.
I have an ongoing list of our favorite places to photograph where we know the light is great and there's plenty of room to run around. When you book with me, you get access to that list. I love to also explore new places if you have one in mind.
This is the most common concern from parents. After working with families for more than 8 years, I have some tricks up my sleeve. I've only had to reschedule a session once for lack of smiles. We later found out kiddo had a double ear infection!
I offer mini sessions every season! They are scheduled far in advance so families have plenty of time to plan. At this time, I do not offer standalone mini sessions.
If you want a larger gallery, two outfits and more time to relax into yourselves, go with a full session. Simply need some updated family shots or have an extra busy toddler? A mini would be a better choice.
Absolutely! As the owner of two dogs, I understand how much your pets mean to you. We will talk through how to best capture your fur baby's personality along with the rest of the family.
Weddings don't have to be the only time for extended family photos. Bring everyone together to commemorate your family ties, Grandma's pies and all the cousin love.

Anna is such a joy to work with! When we moved to Minnesota, we were recommended to get photos done with The Byes and now they are the only ones I trust to do all of my family/maternity/newborn photos!
