The Newborn Experience
Baby will only be this little once, so immortalize those delicious cheeks, fuzzy heads and teeny tiny toes to keep forever. I have created the newborn experience to be as relaxed as possible while also giving you a curated album of your family's newest member. I will walk you through every step of the process to take any stress off your shoulders from booking all the way to receiving your gallery.
Our Signature Process
I. The Consultation
After you inquire, we talk about the our packages. Once you've booked a package, we will talk about the overall aesthetic you desire for your session. We'll walk through what time of day is best, how to pick the location for your session and answer any big questions you have in general.
II. Styling Assistance
Planning for everyone's outfits for a session can be incredibly stressful. I saw the burden on my clients' shoulders and started offering help in this area. After you have chosen your location and date, I will send around 10 mood boards with clickable links to each piece of clothing seen if you really love something. Clients use these both to shop and to start the wheels of inspiration turning.
III. Your Session
The day has come! With a warm home or studio and a freshly fed baby, I'll jump right into photographing. Baby is in charge of the schedule, and I will work around fussiness, diaper changes and feeds. Connection is my main focal point for these sessions. You have grown your family and that love is like no other. I make sure to immortalize those tiny features and scrunchy newborn-ness.
IV. Image Delivery
You will receive a gallery preview with a handful of images, typically around 10, within a week of your session. Families love to use these for immediate baby announcements and to send out to family. You will receive your full gallery four to six weeks from the shoot date.
V. Prints and Albums
You've received your images and you love them, now what? Instead of leaving them on a hard drive, print your memories and hang them in your home. Need a little reminder of your sweet family while you're at work? Print a few copies for desk frames. If you want a keepsake to pass onto future generations or a gift for grandparents, an album is the perfect choice for you.
Megan and Andrew wanted to celebrate their growing family with an outdoor maternity session with two year-old Theo. Megan wanted a Little House on the Prairie aesthetic, so we found a flowy, wheat-colored dress so she could spin to her heart's content. At eight months pregnant, baby was definitely popped! Just a few weeks later, Cirdan was born.

Alexis and Shane wanted a classic gallery of just photos of their boy. Bryce was wide-eyed his whole session. Evidently it was just too exciting to sleep. We love this option for parents who want to immortalize their new babe's squishy features, but aren't quite ready to join them in front of the camera.
Bryce Newborn
On a beautiful, late summer day, the Como Conservatory in St. Paul, Minnesota was the perfect backdrop for a sunny maternity session. Shane and Alexis opted for an all-film session. The combination natural and architectural elements of Como Park gave them a gallery with great variety. Bailey joined them two weeks later.
Weisser Maternity
Susan and Paul chose to schedule Ray's newborn session just about a month after he joined their family. We love their choice of an in-home session, in their sunny St. Paul home. Both cats made appearances, rounding out the family photo portion of their gallery. The new parents wanted a variety of images to look back on, so we used several rooms. Little Ray was a delight the whole time.

Ray Newborn
A very stylish couple, the Rollins decided to use an earth-toned, Southwest-inspired Minneapolis studio for their maternity session. You'd never know how cold it was outside by looking at their cozy gallery.
Rollins Maternity
On a sunny April day, we photographed tiny Felix in his home. At just a couple weeks old, he decided it was too exciting to sleep and we got to see his big eyes the whole session. Some of my very favorites from his gallery are in his crib as the sunshine beams in through the window. Big brother bunny Pablo made an appearance too!
Felix Newborn
For one of their milestone sessions, the Rollins chose a Christmas session. They gathered around the Christmas tree, played the piano and even braved the cold, all while Felix remained the star of the show in his tiny leather pants. Both bunnies made cameos in this gallery, lured in by the delicious Christmas tree.
Felix Ten Months
For his one year session, I brought my hand painted backdrop to the Rollins house to create a clean, studio aesthetic right in their living room. With his rosy cheeks and gummy smile, the birthday boy lit up the room with his giggles.

As soon as possible. Especially if you are expecting in the summer or fall, our schedule gets booked up quickly, so inquire now.
When should I book my session?
Yes! We love celebrating the family aspect of newborn sessions. Don't want to get in front of the camera? That's also okay. We do plenty of just baby sessions as well.
Can family members be in newborn photos?
I generally categorize "newborn" as between 7 days and 2 months old. If you want those realllly squishy, sleepy photos, schedule earlier. If you want a more awake, alert babe, schedule closer to two months.
How old should baby be for a newborn session?
This is completely dependent on the final product you'd like. If you want to have perfect light and clean spaces, go studio. If you want to see yourself in the home where your child will grow up, I'd say in-home.
Should I do in-home or studio?
I have a few neutral swaddles and a handful of bonnets and bows for you to choose from. I also offer styling assistance for you and baby if you want something more unique.
Do you provide swaddles or props?
In short, lifestyle. I think the best way to celebrate your new babe is in your arms. Baby will get plenty of closeups, but I do not do complicated posing with babies.
